Claudia Grutke

Claudia Grutke, originally from Germany, relocated to New Zealand in 1996 and later settled in Raglan, where she embraced her passion for painting. A self-taught artist, Claudia uses mixed media to create introspective, abstract works that explore atmosphere, emotions, and memories. Influenced by her participation in the Creative Visionary Program with Nicholas Wilton in 2020, her art has evolved into more contemplative expressions. She works on several pieces simultaneously, building and removing layers in a minimalist style that ultimately results in simple, refined compositions.
